St Peter’s Bentley is on a mission to grow faith, hope and love in Bentley and beyond. We do this through five activities. We stole them from someone else, which is will become obvious as you read them…
Adoration. The first priority of any church is to worship God. We do this through prayer, singing, our liturgy when we’re together and through daily lives lived in service of God. We prioritise our services and work hard to do this well.
Belonging. Church isn’t an ‘organisation’, we’re a family. We want everyone who comes through our doors to belong. We also want to create a wider family of people who belong and feel like St Peter’s is a safe place.
Compassion. We want to reach out into our community demonstrating the love of God. This work is faith based, but not faith biased. We do this through our money advice centre CMA Bentley and by supporting Bentley Baptist Community Foodbank and other local and national charities.
Discipleship. If adoration is how we relate to God when we’re together, discipleship is about our personal walk with God. We are focused on reading the Bible and growing to love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Evangelism. We want to share the Good News that Jesus saves with everyone in Bentley in a way that makes sense to them. We currently offer Alpha, but are looking at other ways to spread the message further and faster.
As well as tasks, we have values. Specifically we value:
Relationships. We don’t like to operate out of hierarchy or power structures. Instead we want healthy relationships to be the mark of our church. This can be complicated, relationships can be hard, but we’re committed to that.
Best for Bentley. We will always go the extra mile to give the best to Bentley. What we provide is good quality, well done and we always offer our best.
Justice. We will try and make ethical decisions to help ensure that we are promoting justice and equality wherever we can. This is particularly true when it comes to purchasing decisions.
