Holy Week 2017

Holy Week is the week before Easter and a time of reflection.  A proper Church Easter is a rollercoaster ride and we want to be ready for the joy on Easter Sunday morning.  Here’s what’s happening.

Monday 10th April – Chrism Eucharist at Sheffield Cathedral (a special service of renewing vows for ministers).

Tuesday 11th April – Simple lunch in Church at 12noon followed by a service of Holy Communion at 12.45pm.

Wednesday 12th April – Film: The Miracle Maker (cert U) at 2pm in Church.  All are welcome, no charge.

Thursday 13th April (Maundy Thursday) – A special service remembering the last supper.  There is a ceremony of washing feet which you can join in with if you’d like to as well as a vigil watch at the end.

Friday 14th April (Good Friday) – The church is open for you to drop in and out between 12 and 3pm.  At 1pm there will the a stations of the cross and at 2pm a structured reflection.

Saturday 15th April (Holy Saturday) – We are allowed to start our celebration of Easter after sundown, so we have a service at 8.15pm where we will light our new Paschal candle and celebrate that Jesus is risen from the dead!

Sunday 16th April (Easter Sunday) – We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in both services with party poppers and maybe even some chocolate!

So, something for everyone this Holy Week.  What will you come to?
