What’s coming up this week?  When are you coming to join us?

Sunday 24th June:  This week we have our usual services at 9.30am (traditional) and 4pm (informal with activities for children).  We will be discovering how to find love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  If you need more of those, come join us, none of our services clash with the footy 😉

Monday 25th:

Tuesday 26th: Little Fishes from 9-10.45am in the Community Hall.

Wednesday 27th: Coffee in the Carpark 8.45-9.15am, Church Prayer Meeting, 7.30pm in the Church.

Thursday 28th:

Friday 29th:  Morning Prayer in church at 9am.  It’s St Peter’s Day and we’ll be celebrating in the evening at 7.30pm with a communion service.  Our guest preacher is Revd. Amanda Barraclough.  Tea and cake afterwards!

Saturday 30th:

Sunday 1st July:  Normal service at 9.30am (traditional).  Strawberry Tea (tickets £4) at 3p, followed by church in the garden around 4pm/4.15pm (informal with activities for children).    You don’t have to come to Strawberry Tea to come to church!

The Ascension

Posted in events

Next Thursday (10th May) is Ascension Day.  It’s the day 40 days after Easter when we remember Jesus rising to heaven.  We will be celebrating with a special service at St Mary the Virgin Sprotbrough at 7.30pm.  Amanda Barraclough will be taking the service and the preacher is Dave Berry.

Come and find out what it’s all about next Thursday evening.  See you there!

Ascension Day marks the start of Thy Kingdom Come too, so start thinking about who you’re going to pray for over the 10 days!

Thy Kingdom Come

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are calling people to pray between Ascension day and Pentecost, the 10-20th May 2018.  We want to join in at St Peter’s.  Keep an eye out for materials to help us.

In particular they are calling us to pray for five people who don’t know Jesus, that they would get to know Him.  We’ve got some resources to help with that.

Keep you eyes open for more info…

Good Friday

Posted in events

Today is Good Friday.  We remember the death of Jesus.  Yesterday we remembered his betrayal, today we remember his sacrifice.

The church will be open for quiet reflection between noon and 3pm.  There will be two acts of worship during that time.  The Way of the Cross  (also known as Stations of the Cross) at 1pm and The Good Friday Liturgy at 2pm. Feel free to come and go as you please.

Wednesday Morning Blues

Posted in events

No Coffee in the car park today, it’s half term (sorry).  If you’re in need of caffeine today Moona’s on the High Street do great coffee.

It’s Ash Wednesday today, which is the start of Lent.  If you’ve not decided what you’re giving up, today’s the day!  We’ve got a special service tonight at 7.30 in Church reminding us that we are not the centre of the universe.  It’s a great way to get perspective.  Part of the service is having the sign of the cross made on our foreheads with ashes – but if that really doesn’t appeal, it is optional!

Tomorrow (Sunday 11th Feb 2018)

Posted in events, and Sunday

Tomorrow is Sunday!  Yay!

We‘ve got an action packed morning planned starting at 9.30 with Parish Eucharist – our traditional service.  At 11am is st peter’s together our informal service with activities for children.

At 12noon it’s church lunch, everyone is invited to bring and share some food and spend an hour together eating as a family in the Church Hall.  What should you bring?  Anything you can share, a plate of sandwiches, some crisps, a cake, some bread and butter, fruit, a pudding anything really!  Somehow it all works out and there’s usually a great spread!  It’s a bit like the feeding of the 5,000 but with fewer people and more food 🙂

See you tomorrow!

See you in the morn
